Dropps Review: Are they worth it?

Posted on January 14, 2022February 7, 2022 by Lizzie Davies

Dropps is a must have in our home; we’ve been using the laundry detergent and dishwasher pods for over a year. Since they’ve become a firm favorite here, I want to share my thoughts about them for others considering the change.

If you’ve read some of my other blogs you’ll know that I’ve been on a mission to reduce our family’s waste, and to choose products that are better for our family’s health, and the environment.

Like many busy moms, I love the convenience of laundry pods. However, I hate the big plastic containers they come in. I came across Dropps after switching our cleaning supplies to a Blueland, and wanting a better option for our laundry. Dropps use minimal, plastic-free packaging. Made from cardboard boxes, the clever design ensures that there’s no wasted space. I’ve ordered their products time and time again, and can’t say enough good things about them.

What I love about the detergent pods:

They clean really well. I haven’t noticed any less cleaning power than the Tide pods I was using before. I was prepared for them to be a little less effective, but I‘m pleased that I haven’t had to sacrifice cleaning ability.

They don’t irritate our sensitive skin. I have had problems with laundry detergents in the past, since the girls and I all have sensitive skin. We’ve had no issues with Dropps irritating our skin, and we’ve tried all of their different pods.

They offer both unscented and scented options. The scented options are fragranced with essential oils, so there’s no artificial smells, which I really like. I find all their options leave our clothes smelling fresh and clean, with a delicate scent from the fragranced pods.

At the same time as swapping our laundry detergent to Dropps, we replaced our dishwasher pods for Dropps too. I was a little hesitant as they had some mixed reviews. But we personally haven’t found that they perform any differently to our previous products.

What I love about Dropps dishwasher pods

Our glasses come out sparkly clean. Some of the reviews mentioned these didn’t clean as well as the market leaders, but I personally find that they work as well as Cascade did for us.

There’s a subtle fresh lemon scent. Other options I considered only had an unscented option, which would be fine, but I enjoy the freshness that the lemon adds to the machine. There is also an unscented option though if you prefer that.

In addition to the laundry and dishwasher pods, I recently added the oxi boosters to our laundry routine, and I’m really impressed with them. I do still have to spot tackle some of the more stubborn stains that our girls create with a more robust stain remover. Overall though I really like the boost they give our laundry, especially our bedding.

Dropps has been a big win for me on my journey to zero-waste. Not all of the eco swaps I’ve attempted in the past have worked out, but Dropps has allowed me to make changes in many areas of our home, without having to sacrifice on the level of cleanliness that I like.

In addition to their awesome cleaning and low waste packaging, Dropps offers a subscription service, which is super convenient for me in this hectic season of life, as it’s one less thing that I have to remember to buy. You can choose the quantity and frequency of your subscription to suit your family’s needs.

I also love that they are cheaper than the products I was using before (when you sign up for the subscription service – that you can cancel anytime) which is a big positive for me as more often than not swapping to an environmentally friendly option can be costly. I purchase the 240 count under a subscription, which works out about 20¢ a pod before tax vs the 24¢ a pod I was paying for Tide.

When reviewing a product, I usually I like to point out the negatives, but I personally don’t have any when it comes to Dropps. If you’re looking for a low-waste laundry detergent, give Dropps a try – you can check their site out here.

I hope you love Dropps as much as I do!
